Okay, confession time: I’ve developed a brand-new obsession—and I’m not even trying to hide it.
If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve probably seen me post snapshots of my incoming and outgoing mail. Postcards, letters, decorated envelopes, vintage stamps—it’s my happy place. But there’s something else I love tacking onto those posts: songs. And not just any songs—I’m talking about music that actually mentions letters, postcards, mailboxes, post offices, and yes, even our unsung heroes, the mail carriers.
And let me tell you… once I started digging, I couldn’t stop.
It turns out there’s a treasure trove of tunes out there celebrating all things snail mail. Some are upbeat and quirky, some are tender and nostalgic—but every single one gives me that same fluttery feeling I get when I open the mailbox and see something handwritten inside. I’ve found gems by some of my favorite artists (hi, Billy Idol, Elton John, and Flesh for Lulu!), and I keep discovering more every day.
So I’m turning this musical love affair into a full-blown blog project.
This new section is where I’ll be sharing songs that sing the praises of correspondence—complete with stories, memories, and embedded YouTube videos so you can listen along. Whether you’re writing a postcard, waiting on happy mail, or just vibing with vintage flair, there’s a soundtrack for that.
I hope these songs bring you as much joy as they’ve brought me.
And now I’ve gotta ask: do you have a favorite song about letters, postcards, or good ol’ snail mail? Tell me in the comments—or better yet, send me a note the old-fashioned way. 🎵📬💌
